The abandoned Dry Creek service/gasoline station on National Old Trails Road (formerly U.S. Route 66) in Newberry Springs, California. A faded painted sign on the building front that appears to read “Italian and American Dishes” can be seen in the photograph. Originally built in 1951 as a diner ("Tony's Café") with railroad ties and plastered with stucco, it expanded into one of the Whiting Brothers' many roadside service stations (#45) until its closure after Route 66 was bypassed by Interstate 40.

Today we explore Virginia City, Nevada...stopping at several phenomenal locations along the way.. including the Yellow Jacket Mine - a location were some unlucky miners remain to this very day, forever entombed - The Silver Terrace Cemeteries (Not all, as there are 11 of them) The Gold Hill Hotel, and deadly events - The Yellow Jacket Mining Disaster - which left at least 25 men dead - and the Great Fire of 1875.
