It’s another edition of The Producer’s Notes, and our series focusing on recording drums. Specifically, some microphone techniques taken from host Jon Stinson’s resource, Recording Drums 101: A Home Studio Recording Guide For Pro Sounding Drums.

Typically, The Producer’s Notes are the alternate episodes that we feature every other week. But for the entire month of January, we’re doing just episodes of The Producer’s Notes. We will begin bringing guests back on the show in February.

So this week, Jon takes a few minutes to walk you through The Recorderman drum mic’ing setup. This is a very popular technique for recording drums with only two microphones.

To learn more about The Recorderman technique, see some pictures, and listen to an audio example, check out Jon Stinson’s Recording Drums 101 resource.

While on that page, make sure you subscribe to the email list using any of the forms on that page. Jon will send you tons more free tips on recording, mixing, producing, songwriting, and even tips on reaching your peak creative potential. All delivered directly to your inbox!
