Imagine yourself….
Driving down a two-lane interstate on your way home from a visit with your dad.
He is quirky, but by far your #1 fan. You appreciate that, too, because (despite being recently married and buying a home) you just quit your steady desk job. The job you thought you had always dreamed of.
Your car is low riding. Not because of luggage, books, furniture or a modified low-ride kit, but instead…coffee beans. Your dad has just roasted another batch of fresh beans like only he can.
And you are heading home to press them and cold brew them like only you can.
That’s right. You recently quit your 9-5 job to take on cold brew coffee as a full-time opportunity.
Insert Bebe Goodrich, founder of Icebox coffee.
Bebe started Icebox (which was acquired in 2017 by one of the South’s largest coffee and tea distributors, Royal Cup) with her coffee beans roasted by her father in New Orleans, some pantyhose and a gallon plastic bucket.
If you didn’t believe in true bootstrapping before reading this your world is about to get turned upside down.
Despite the FDA shutting down her entire operation for eight long days, Bebe refused to quit.
…and thank goodness, she didn’t.
As her entrepreneurial journey would have it, the shutdown would actually lead Icebox to their eventual buyer, Royal Cup.
Hear how Bebe worked a side-hustle in the coffee industry that led to mastering her craft and her eventual big buyout in this episode of The Millennovator Podcast.
