EP009: The Taiwanese industry that literally saves lives

Join host Joey Chou as he dives into socio-economic issues faced by Taiwan, and their broader impact beyond the reefs of this island nation.

In 2020, amidst the coronavirus pandemic, surging demand in Taiwan led to the nation’s leading mask maker CSD to spend over US$4 million on a new factory.

 

CSD mask production went from 700,000 to a gradual expansion to a total of 2 million masks per day.

 

However, as the coronavirus spread around the world and Taiwan became noted for its effective campaign to contain the virus, demand for CSD products surged, with foreign sellers eager to order the Taiwanese masks, the company said.

 

Over the last few years, CSD has committed to their tag line “Health in Style”. Producing masks in special colors, including orange, blue and red, were so popular that they had become scarce collectors’ items

 

Today we’ll talk about what CSD is producing, 4 years after their 2020 production reform.
