We are having real talk today with Girl Confidence herself, Rachel Luna.  Rachel discusses how she navigated her mil to mil marriage, as well as lessons learned from life and marriage.  Rachel is  a Certified Master Coach, International Speaker, Forbes rated Top 11 Inspiring Female Entrepreneurs to Follow on Instagram (@GirlConfident) + Chief Confidence Creator.  She is a proud  Marine Corps veteran and is here with us to share her heart.

On this Heart to Heart we discuss:

  • Mil to mil doesn't have to be "hard".  She encourages us to reframe our mindset on what hard  means to us and how rising to a challenge can be fun.
  • Rachel suffered from identity loss when she separated and became a milspouse and mom. Thinking that she possibly wouldn't have the opportunity to be a mom, when it became her primary role she struggled.  Rachel learned to surrender the emotional attachment and embrace her present season.
  • We, in the military community, get the gift of learning how to be agile, nimble and flexible.
  • We need to put our own oxygen mask on first.  Realizing that we can cross the same finish line and want the same things, but you may be in different points on the race.  If the finish line still looks the same, its okay for one person t be sprinting or in different lanes.   (This echoes Ep. 71 Different Seasons, take a listen!) 
  • Communicate your needs, wants and desires to your spouse.
  • Comparison is the thief of joy.
  • "They need me" went from a feeling of dread to one of joy when Rachel received perspective after she successfully beat breast cancer.  She encourages us to find the joy in your present works & journey.
  • Finding joy in the midst of uncertainty & in little moments.
  • Strengthen yourself mentally, emotionally & spiritually to be .  Condition yourself.  What would it look like to do things with intention to run the race we desire and be able to care your family.
