Raju tells his story of having been adopted form an orphanage in Chennai, India into a multiracial family in Indianapolis, Indiana. Raju grew up a racing and NASCAR fan and has been accustomed to seeing Confederate flags all around him. He has gotten used to being in all White spaces. But the day after 9/11 was different - while sitting in traffic on a familiar road, a White man in a vehicle nearby gestured to slash Raju's throat. The story is stomach turning in its impact on Raju, making him fear for his life. Raju also shares how travel and being a flight attendant has helped humanize people from all backgrounds.
