What can a 100yr-old marketing book teach about 21st century social media marketing? 

I'll tell you what in this episode of the "PhD in Social Media"Podcast. 

There are two clear teachings from that 100-yr-old book: 


1) "scientific advertising" as the author: Claude C Hopkins of the book of the same name explains it, which is a practice of testing and experimenting with all your advertising so as to know down to the cent, what works, and what does not. 

2) And secondly, the fact that with every dollar put towards poor performing ads, you're adding to the cost of your results. It's not only enough to have a good performing ad, a good advertiser must also eradicate those poorer performing ads because wasted dollars there could be better spent on our better performing ads.
