EP111 Jeff Cable | Team USA Olympic Photographer

Listen Later

Team USA Olympic photographer Jeff Cable pulls back the curtain on how he shoots, edits, and delivers world-class sports images under a 14-minute deadline. We cover silent shutter etiquette, hockey techniques through plexi, travel logistics for Milan, building photo tours in Costa Rica and beyond, and hands-on insights with Canon’s R1/R3—plus printing, backup workflows, and live audience Q&A. Packed with practical tips and wild Olympic stories, this one’s a masterclass for shooters at any level.

Jeff Cable started his professional photography career photographing events in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2004 and has gone on to cover the last 8 Olympic Games for Team USA. For more than 25 years, Cable served as a marketing executive at companies like Symantec, Magellan, and Micron. But while traveling the world for his corporate job, his interest and passion for photography grew quickly, and his photography business grew even faster. He left the corporate world in 2016 to dedicate himself full-time to his photography. He has earned respect around the globe for his creative images and for sharing his love of photography with others. He's best known for capturing photos for the US Olympic Committee, photographing the last eight Olympic games, in Beijing, Vancouver, London, Sochi, Rio de Janeiro, PyeongChang, Tokyo and Paris. In 2025, Jeff was awarded a World Sports Photography award for one of the best images of the year.

Jeff not only photographs for personal and corporate clients, he also leads photo tours where he teaches photo enthusiasts and professionals around the world. He has taught in Africa, Australia, Asia, Cuba, Europe, Central and South America, India, and across the United States. He is one of the most watched and respected instructors of photography, with millions of views of his free online photography classes.

Jeff is best known for his artistic passion, his easy-going attitude and his ability to capture the emotion of any moment.

He routinely gives back to the community by volunteering for Make-A-Wish Foundation, UCSF Hospital and United Way.
