EP14: Self-Awareness Isn’t Enough: How To Break The Patterns You Keep Repeating (& How I Healed My PTSD)

Listen Later

Have you ever sworn you were “done” with something - a job, a relationship, a pattern… and then found yourself right back in it? This episode dives is a deep dive into how to break the patterns you keep repeating over and over again.

I share my story of being in unhealthy relationships - cheating, arguing - until i met my ex-boyfriend in what would become a physically abusive relationship. I go deeply into my journey afterwards of PTSD, trying to healing with talk therapy, and what it took to actually heal - not just cognitively process it.

This is an episode about creating the life you want from a lived reality - where your level of knowledge and awareness matches your day-to-day behaviour and relationships in your life.

Key Talking Points:

  • Why you keep looping in the same patterns and how to finally break them
  • The trap and prison of self-awareness when you know better but can’t act differently
  • How to know what’s yours to heal and what’s someone else’s responsibility
  • Why “making the right choice” feels impossible in the moment
  • My experience living with PTSD - the symptoms, behaviours and how I would act in ways I wasn’t proud of.
  • What Western therapy gave me and where it left me stuck
  • How somatic work and breathwork changed things that intellectually processing never could
  • The difference between knowing what to do and actually becoming the person who does it
