Fostering for 3 years had some experiences ups and downs. This opened a door to adopt a beautiful son with Down syndrome which has been a huge blessing in our lives. There were struggles with him crawling, walking, medical scares but these obstacles eventually turned into amazing blessings. Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal disorder. One out of every 700 babies are born with it, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. People with Down syndrome have a wide range of developmental and cognitive impairments and are at increased risk of health problems like hearing loss and heart abnormalities. 

Down syndrome was Native American cultures believed (and still do to this day) that disability, or difference rather, is the result of “disharmony of the spirit.
For the most part, however, disability was viewed as a moral problem, often bringing disgrace to families who had a disabled loved one.

Fostering is a program supported by the State and this can lead to adoption with a child who needs a home. My son is going to be 10 years old and has a great life with family who truly loves him. Adoption is a great opportunity to give a child who has or had a hard life experience love and a functional atmosphere.
