Crystal The Chameleon By Rachelle Jones Smith
The Read with Carylee Show brings the love of literature to children and gives a peek behind-the-scenes by evoking the joy of reading, helping children interact with authors, and displaying the hidden talent of these authors who may be living in your community.
In this episode, we're going to read Crystal The Chameleon By Rachelle Jones Smith. Will Crystal's fun, create chaos in Sumi's zen space? This is an action-packed story full of movement!
Rachelle never got her fill with high school, so she goes back daily to teach creative writing, English & composition, and journalism. After class, she's usually found writing, photographing, or pursuing adventures. Years ago, she took her driver's test sitting on phone books to see over the steering wheel, but a lot has changed since then. Phone books are digital and seats that rise make road trips with her husband and children awesome and a lot less dangerous! Now that she's older - though not much taller - she enjoys writing Young Adult fiction with strong, diverse characters. This means she must keep her vocabulary lit and her tech-know on point - but she would never say that out loud. She wants her YA work to inspire, comfort, and to relate to people from all walks of life. Her children's books likewise feature diverse characters and are focused on inclusion, self-affirmation, empathy, and humanity. Rachelle studied comic book art, journalism, criminal justice, and creative writing in school.
