Developing an accent is a lot of tedious work. It's not easy and it's not always a steady climb or improvement. Using the tools available to keep notes, follow-up and get exposure to native speaker samples is an invaluable tool to hone your skill. Furthermore, accents are much more than simply the sound differences. There are vocabulary differences, slang, and other nuances to a person's communication that impacts their identity. Being aware of and adjusting your communication style accordingly is important to be the best communicator you can be!
