Ep.19 - Surviving Coronavirus, Our Journey and Symptoms Explained (The Living Better Podcast)

Listen Later

In this episode of the podcast, Matt and Jodi are talking about their experience contracting the coronavirus, the symptoms and the evolution of them, and their overall journey with the virus. Matt and Jodi are no medical experts and you should definitely contact your local healthcare provider if you experience symptoms. Matt and Jodi were not tested due to the lack of availability of testings in the province of Quebec but upon calling the government helpline, they were told that their symptoms strongly correlated with contracting COVID-19 and since they check off all of the symptoms, they should act like they do and self isolate for 14 days. Since testings were unavailable, the government helpline self-assess you based on symptoms and gives you recommendations based on your disclosure of them. At the moment, there is no cure and if you have COVID-19, the only thing to do is wait for your body to fight off the virus or go to the hospital if breathing becomes such an issue that it could be life-threatening. If you live in the province of Quebec, the website to check is https://www.quebec.ca/en/health/health-issues/a-z/2019-coronavirus/. COVID-19 is a serious virus and you should definitely follow the government guidelines and disclose to your employer your symptoms and what you are experiencing if you believe you contracted COVID-19.
The Government guidelines as per the website above right now are: If you have symptoms such as new cough or cough that gets worse, fever, difficulty breathing or sudden loss of sense of smell without nasal congestion with or without loss of taste: Do not go to a medical clinic unless you have first obtained an appointment. If your condition allows you to do so, call 1-877-644-4545. If you are a traveler who has returned within less than 14 days, mention it. Visit the emergency room only if you have difficulty breathing (you have difficulty breathing when resting or are unable to breathe when lying down). If you are worried about COVID‑19, you can call 418-644-4545, 514-644-4545, 450-644-4545, 819-644-4545, and 1-877-644-4545 (toll-free) elsewhere in Québec.
With COVID-19, Matt and Jodi experienced a stuffy nose, intense body aches, extreme fatigue, loss of smell and taste and dry cough, lack of breath, and constant headaches. They will tell you about their experience with the coronavirus in the enlightenment of giving you advice and giving you hope that if you get it, you can beat it. They have been dealing with the virus for 3 weeks now and they are in quarantine at their primary home in Canada, Quebec.
