The Backpack by Lindsay C. Barry
The Read with Carylee Show brings the love of literature to children and gives a peek behind-the-scenes by evoking the joy of reading, helping children interact with authors, and displaying the hidden talent of these authors who may be living in your community. In this episode, we're going to read “The Backpack” by Lindsay C. Barry.
The Backpack is not only a fun rhyming picture book but a primer on treating others how we wish to be treated. Children will enjoy the colorful illustrations and rhymes. Parents will appreciate the lesson on caring and friendship.
Lindsay C. Barry developed her love of reading and writing at a young age, and even more so when she stumbled upon a magical world called Narnia. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and has worked in advertising and executive search.
But her first love has always been writing and education. Her mother, an English, drama, and creative writing teacher made sure that Barry's love for the literary world was deeply ingrained from a young age.
Barry lives in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband, two sons, two cats, two guppies with ever-changing names, one red Beta fish named Goldie, a blue budgie named Ice Dragon, and a yellow budgie named Goldie (sense a theme?). Her sons inspire her life and writing every single day.
