二、學語言: Talking about language learning

1. 你幾歲開始學其他語言的? (How old did you start learning other languages?)

"Shìde, wǒ shì liǎngnián qián kāishǐ xuéxí, qí,tā de yǔyán. Nàshíhou wǒ shísì suì. Yīnwèi wǒ xiǎng hé hěnduō péngyou shuōhuà, yě xiǎng jiāo xīn de péngyou. Měitiān dōu yào liànxí, dànshì kāishǐ yǐhòu, jiù bù xiǎng tíng le. Xiànzài, kàndào wǒ xuéle zhème duō, wǒ juéde hěn gāoxìng!

2. 你為什麼喜歡學語言? (Why do you like learning languages?)

Zhōngwén hěnnán, dànshì hěnyǒu yìsi. Wǒ xǐhuan liànxí Zhōngwén, yīnwèi wǒ xiǎng hé péngyou shuōhuà. Wǒ shíliù suì, dànshì wǒ xiǎng měitiān dōu liànxí. Wǒ zìjǐ liànxí. Wǒ shuō, duì de shíhou, wǒ hěn gāoxìng. Zhè hěnnán, dànshì hěnbàng!

3. 你最喜歡哪一句中文? (What is your favorite Chinese sentence

Wǒ zuì xǐhuan de huà shì 'Wǒ ài Zhōngwén'. Zhèjù huà hěn jiǎndān, dànshì tā ràng wǒ jìxù xuéxí Zhōngwén. Wǒ shuō de hěnhǎo de shíhou, wǒ hěn gāoxìng. Wǒ zìjǐ shuō: hěnbàng!

4. 學語言最開心的是什麼? (What makes you happiest when learning a language?)

Wǒ zuì gāoxìng de shíhou, shì shuōhuà de shíhou péngyou kěyǐ tīngdǒng. Wǒ zìjǐ zài jiā liànxí 'xuéshēng' zhè gè cí. Wǒ liànxí le èrshí fēnzhōng! Yī kāishǐ wǒ shuō de bùhǎo, dànshì wǒ bù xiǎng fàngqì. Xiànzài, wǒ shuō de hěnhǎo, dàjiā dōu kěyǐ tīngdǒng. Wǒ hěn gāoxìng, wǒ juéde hěnbàng!

5. 如果有人今天開始學一個新語言,你會建議先學什麼?問候?數字? (If someone start learning a new language, what do you recommend should learn first?)

You: "Hmm, duì (Hmm, right), I actually don't agree with the standard advice. Many people say you should learn numbers like yī, èr, sān (one, two,* three) first, dànshì (but) numbers alone do nothing for real communication. Xiàn zài (now), my advice is to master the absolute foundation and the most common words of the language. For example, focus on functional words like shì (to be), hé (and), chī (to eat), shuō (to speak), yīnwèi (because), and qǐngwèn (exc

use me). Once you understand these core pieces, you just add wǒ (I) in front of them, and you can instantly make a complete sentence! That is the fastest way to start speaking."

6. 請你用中文和日文,教我們說一句最適合初學者的話 (Please use Chinese and Japanese to teach us a sentence that is most suitable for a beginner.)

Xiànzài, wǒ de jiànyì shì: xiān xué zuì chángyòng de cí. Bǐfāng shuō, hǎo yòng de cí xiàng shì, hé, chī, shuō, yīnwèi, hé qǐngwèn. Once you understand these core pieces, you just add wǒ in front of them, and you can instantly make a complete sentence! Bǐfāng shuō: "Wǒ xǐhuan zúqiú." That means "I like football." That is the fastest way to start speaking. Dànshì if you want to say it in Japanese, it's the exact same simple trick! You just take the word you like and add 'ga suki desu'. So you can say: 'Rāmen ga suki desu'. Xiànzài, anyone listening can instantly make a full sentence in two languages!"

7. 有有沒有想放棄的時候?怎麼繼續? (Have you ever wanted to give up? How did you keep going?)

Hǎo, shìshíshàng, měi gè rén dōu yǒu xiǎng fàngqì de shíhòu. Xué Zhōngwén, xūyào hěnduō nǔlì, yǒushíhòu nǐ jiù juéde kǎ zhù le. Dànshì, měi dāng wǒ xiǎng fàngqì de shíhòu, wǒ jiù tíng xià lái xiǎng xiǎng zhèxiē rén. Yīnwèi wǒ de mùbiāo shì, hán lǎoshī hé péngyǒu jiāoliú, ràng tāmen wèi wǒ jiāó ào. Xiànzài, tóuténg de shíhòu, wǒ jiù xiǎngxiǎng, tāmen de liǎn. Jīntiān cuò le, méi guānxi, yīnwèi měi gè cuòwù dōu ràng wǒ, gèng jìn yī bù.

8. 你覺得中文和日文,哪一個比較難?為什麼 (Which one is more difficult for you, Chinese or Japanese? Why?)

You: "Hmm, duì (Hmm, right), this is a tough one! Personally, I think Zhōngwén grammar is a bit easier to start making sentences with, dànshì (but) the pronunciation and the four tones—like mā, má, mǎ, mà—are incredibly hard to master. Japanese is quite the opposite. In Japanese, the words are very clear and the sounds are straightforward, dàn shì (but) the grammar is hard and extremely difficult to master. Overall, yīn wèi (because) the tones in Zhōngwén require so much exact practice, I think Zhōng wén is slightly more difficult for me. Dàn shì (but), overcoming that difficulty is exactly what makes it fun!"

9. 你希望未來用這些語言做什麼? (What do you hope to do with these languages in the future?)

You: "Shì de (yes), I have a massive dream for the future. I want to completely change the educational perspective of the whole world. People out there think they cannot speak multiple languages, dàn shì (but) they absolutely can! The problem is the system. Textbooks always teach us the non-important words first, which is why we can’t speak or comprehend well. They teach us how the language works on paper, not the actual way of speaking. I saw this exact flaw in every single language I learned, and I want to change it. That is my dream. Xiàn zài (now), I am practicing with my teacher and friends, dàn shì (but) in the future, I want to use these languages to break down those old walls and show the world the real way to learn."

三、結尾: Closing

1. 今天的中文一句話 (I'll repeat again the sentence you shared that is most suitable for a beginner.)

You: "Hǎo (perfect)! Let’s lock it in, one last time for our listeners. The perfect sentence to start with is 'Wǒ xǐ huan…' (I like…) in Chinese, and '…ga suki desu' in Japanese. Jīntiān jiù shìshī, gēn nǐ de péngyǒu shuō shuō kàn, and see how easy it is to connect!"

2. 請用阿拉伯文、中文、日文各說一句「一起加油」 (Say "Let's work hard together" in Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese.)

You: "Shì de (yes),

  • In Arabic, we say: "Lina'mal ma'an bi jid!" (لِنَعْمَلْ مَعًا بِجِدّ)
  • In Chinese, we say: "Wǒmen yīqǐ jiāyóu!" (我們一起加油!)
  • In Japanese, we say: "Issho ni ganbarimashō!" (一緒に頑張りましょう!)

  • 3. 想跟大家說聲再見嗎?

    In Chinese:

    Xièxiè nǐ, xiàcì jiàn

    In Japanese:

    Yonde kurete arigatō, mata ne
