Ask yourself, what do you need? How do you like things done/arranged at home? If someone could take something off your plate to bring you relief, what would it be? What does it feel for you when you have to do everything yourself?
Now ask yourself the same questions, but from your partner’s perspective. Do you know what they need or what their preferences are? Do you aim to meet those? Do you know when they are stressed or what they want to offload from their plate? Do they feel like you are an equal contributor in the relationship or at home, and if not, what do you think it feels like for them to carry the lions share?
Join us as we breakdown reciprocity: what is looks like, how it impacts ALL of our relationships, and what your role is in keeping reciprocity alive. Reciprocity, or the perceived give and take in relationships, is crucial for healthy and balanced relationships. It isn’t as simple as doing more things around the house; we all have different needs and preferences, and thus evaluate reciprocity differently. Let us tell you how and guide you through a roadmap to make this easier!
If you find this episode, or any of our other episodes, helpful to you, please share with those that you love! Let us know what you think about what you want us to talk about next by emailing us at [email protected]!
Next Tuesday, we dive into perfectionism, including what it looks like, how it can hold us back, and ways to tackle this pattern of thought and behavior. Later topics include: how to navigate finances as a partnership, self-acceptance, compassion in couples, identifying needs vs. wants, boundaries, managing family relationships, and so much more!
