One of the longest and most fulfilling relationships Allen has kept over the course of his life is Jess Carpenter. They both grew up in the same tiny town of Chewelah WA and became friends early on. Jess was always a kind hearted, generous and beautiful girl, so it was no surprise when she met her match in Mike Carpenter. After getting married and starting to build the life of their dreams, Mike was diagnosed with cancer. The tragedy unfolded as his sickness worsened--and after putting up an incredible fight, his life was taken.

Jess looked her worst fears in the face and found a way to combat them and rebuild the life she always wanted for herself and her husband. She became a world traveler, a blogger, and explorer of life and a human being who walks with gratitude everyday. Because she knows she's living her life the way Mike would have wanted to as well.
