Ep24 | Clean Pain, Dirty Pain — Tools to Face the Discomfort of Growth and Change

We all face discomfort when we need to make a change: the discomfort of staying the same, staying where we are, staying with what we know — and the discomfort of moving towards newness, unfamiliarity, and patterns of behaviour that aren't yet natural for us. We need to remember what we're doing and why we're doing it — and keep connected with the question "What is this discomfort in service of?"

Clean pain is the discomfort of moving toward healthier, truer unfamiliarity — in service of your personal and spiritual growth. Dirty pain is the discomfort of staying where we no longer want or ought to be — in service of feelings of safety or comfort or ease. Baby steps are a clean way to start moving toward the types of safety and ease that also serve your person and spirit.
