The online apparel market presents a compelling growth opportunity, with double-digit CAGR of around 17% and an increasing share of sales shifting to e-commerce. Market leaders already generate close to 10% of total revenues online, making this a clear benchmark for specialized apparel businesses. Success in this space is strongly correlated with technology-first, mobile-first strategies and superior user experience. Categories such as kidswear and accessories are becoming critical growth drivers, contributing up to 20% of global online apparel sales and growing faster than core menswear and womenswear.

Customer behaviour highlights two imperatives: building strong online propositions for kids and accessories, and improving conversion among highly engaged but under-converting 18–24 year-olds, while retaining the core 24–35 year-old buying segment. Third-party marketplaces remain essential but must be balanced carefully to avoid margin erosion, often through hybrid models and exclusive online ranges.

Winning e-commerce strategies require strong brand and performance marketing, seamless omnichannel integration, marketing-led UI/UX ownership, and dedicated e-commerce technology capabilities.
