Long ago, there was a budding relationship between two young immortals whose species were at war. Thronos, a Vrekener, who was "NOT" a winged-demon and Melanthe, a Sorceri gifted with the power of persuasion. Theirs was a union that blossomed into sweet friendship despite the odds—and dissolved just as quickly into hatred and obsession for centuries thenceforth...until the fates reunited them once again for the ultimate game of survival.
This week on Romancing the Monsters, we explore the miscommunication trope, the positives and negatives of having a fated bond and why those two things can lead to obsession and the loss of one's identity and individuality. Also mentioned: the idea of misogyny and gender roles in a conservative environment and the difficult process of dismantling a learned mindset/mentality.
Trigger warning: mentions of death, physical and mental torture, misogyny, gender role expectations, cults, verbal abuse, non-sexual acts done without consent (forced removal of Sorceri magic, etc.), and sterilization.

Romancing the Monsters is a podcast that looks at the monster within: the shadow keeping the characters away from true and absolute happiness. This monster can be a prejudice, fear, insecurity, trauma and so on. We believe that romance novels are as much about one's personal journey as they are about finding love.
After all, love makes us vulnerable and forces us to bare our monsters to another.
