When I was 12, I thought I had the trip of a lifetime lined up—a summer in California. My dad agreed, even promised me spending money, but he knew the odds were slim. In chasing that dream, I hustled baseball cards, comics, and trades until I pieced together my first skateboard. In the end, I never made it west, but I learned lessons about value, knowing your content, and how sometimes the biggest hustle is the one you don’t even see coming.
