Paul Hollins is a Professor of Cultural Research Development. Supporting collaborative research across the School of Arts is one of his responsibilities. An experienced academic, Paul has published widely in the Arts, Education, Business, and Technology fields. Before the COVID-19 pandemic struck, creative organisations involved in advertising, fashion, film and graphic design were thriving - discover how you could enter as the industry tries to recover. According to the Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, the UK's creative industries contributed £115.9 billion to the economy in 2019. The sector now makes up just under 6% of the economy, an increase of 43.6% since 2010. Aside from his involvement in the EU Horizon 2020 project RAGE (Realizing an Applied Gaming Ecosystem Europe), Professor Hollins will chair the Whitman 200 conference as well as support collaborative research projects within the School of Arts. 1. Who are the main employers of graduate graduates? 2. What is it like to work in this field? 3. What are the key issues facing the creative industries? 4. What advice would you give to students who want to pursue creative arts? Do you think there are enough jobs? It’s the only industry that boomed during the lockdown Paul has a strong and diverse background from business and academia to draw on when challenging the current state of educational technology. I would find it interesting to discuss what the future of creative art students should look like.
