Today's podcast is focused on first-time buyers. This is a term used to describe a potential house buyer who has not previously owned a property. In the UK, there are several government schemes that can help a first time buyer buy a home. These include Help to Buy, Right to Buy and Shared Ownership schemes.

Right to Buy is for tenants who rent their home from their local council, Help to Buy is available to those with a small deposit and Shared ownership is where you buy a share of a home from the landlord, who is usually the council or a housing association, and rent the remaining share.
