A devoted sage named Kaushika accidentally kills a crane with his angry look. Regretting his actions, he goes begging for alms and gets angry when a housewife delays serving him because she is attending to her husband. She calmly admonishes him, revealing her awareness of the crane incident and advises him to learn the true meaning of duty from Dharmavyadha in Mithila. To his surprise, Dharmavyadha is a butcher who lives a righteous life.
