Driven by a philosophy of "Manifest Destiny", the belief that we had a moral and righteous right to take over the lands of the west. The Homestead Act of 1862 was the fuel that drove mass migration to the west... the offer of free land. Yet at the core of this migration was the pursuit of the American dream... to have something that was yours to build your dreams upon. We are not so different today. Though we are deeply divided by the illusions created by political ideologies, at the core of most Americans pursuits is the hope and dream of being able to have the opportunity to build their dreams and their futures.
