As I record this podcast episode, it’s been one month to the day that my father passed away. Over the past few weeks, I’ve given myself space to unplug and to feel sad, angry, and scared. I’ve given myself space to lean in and really FEEL my emotions, to cry the “ugly cry” on my husband’s shoulder with mascary-tears running down my cheeks and watery nose dripping down onto my upper lip. It hasn’t been pretty…but it’s been necessary. It’s healthy to grieve.
But,I didn’t always let myself cry so easily. It wasn’t always this way. I’ve had to learn how to sink into my emotions on my own time. Outside of the law firm. Outside of health care law and hospitals and hourly billing. Over the years, I’ve had to learn how to get out of my head and into my heart all by myself – and it doesn’t come naturally to me.
