This is episode 1 of a multi-episode conversation in response to Christianity Today's podcast series, The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill. To get the most out of this conversation you will want to listen to episode 1 of the Mars Hill series. Click here to begin listening. For those who don't know, Mars Hill Church was a whirlwind church movement in the early 2000's founded and led by Mark Driscoll. Mark burst onto the Christian scene like no one we had seen in modern Christianity. He was charismatic, brash and brought a vision to the faith that young families were hungry for. CT does an amazing job retelling the story of Mars Hill's historic rise and epic collapse under the weight of the character flaws of their harrowing leader. Even though most likely you never engaged with Mars Hill as a church, her issues highlight many of the consistent issues that plague all Christians who faithfully attend their local church. In these next episodes, we will respond to the major themes highlighted in each installment of CT's story. In this episode, we take a deep dive into the fact that if you have been attending church for any amount of time you have probably been hurt or disappointed by the flaws of your church leader. Take a listen and learn how you can think through these issues in a way that ultimately can keep you faithful in your commitment to the bride of Christ.
