n this week's Philosopher Insight, we take a closer look at 'Deep Work' by Cal Newport.  

Cal Newport is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Georgetown University and the author of six books. One of them is Deep Work, a book that argues that focus is the new I.Q. in the modern workplace and So Good They Can’t Ignore You, a book that debunks the long-held belief that “follow your passion” is good advice.

The wealth of information available at our fingertips today has created a poverty of attention. We must recognize that the strength of our attention is at the core of everything that we do.  This is why 'Deep Work' is such an important book because the majority of people are drowning in non-productive tasks and daily distractions.
