Mount Gambier Gaol opened in 1866 and operated until 1995. During its day, it saw three executions, with the executed still buried within the precinct of the Gaol. It now operates as a tourist hotel.
After forging a friendship with the wonderful Mel and James, who run the Old Mount Gambier Gaol, we were invited to see if we could contact any of the ghosts who may still reside at the Gaol. Mel and James live peacefully with the spirits that they think still reside there and have never felt the need to explore it further. They finally felt it was time and so we went down to spend a few days as their guests.
