There seems to be an expectation some people have of you to explain yourself for whenever you say no. Well, I'm here to flush out the idea that "no" is a complete sentence. We don't need to explain ourselves, justify our no, or even come with a lie to make the "no" sound "less harsh." Instead people need to accept boundaries and adhere to them.
