EP55 - Understanding Your Inner Committee & Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Listen Later

In this episode I share insights into the concept of inner committees—the diverse parts of ourselves, such as "confident" you, "chaotic" you, or "competitive" you, that shape your thoughts, feelings, and actions. I draw upon my personal experiences, and explain how these parts work together with the intention of keeping us safe, even if their methods can sometimes be counterproductive.

I will introduce you to Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic approach designed to help people understand, embrace, and heal their internal parts. By identifying the roles of exiles (pain-carrying parts), managers (protective parts), and firefighters (distraction-focused parts), IFS guides individuals toward connecting with their authentic, compassionate self. Through this connection, you can learn to harmonise your inner committee and live with greater self-acceptance and inner peace.

In this episode you will learn:

  • What your 'Inner Committee' is and its distinct voices and roles
  • How your inner committee aims to protect and support you
  • Introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Ways you can heal through self-compassion and self-acceptance
  • Why self-discovery and healing require ongoing attention and care
  • How to progress through curiosity instead of judgement
