πππ£π¨ππ©ππ«π ππ€π£π©ππ£π©In this next episode I chat to Kirtsy who talks me through her pregnancy and the birth of her little girl Mia in a UK hospital. Kirsty conceived quickly and had an smooth pregnancy. On one occasion it appeared her placenta was low lying but thankfully this resolved itself with no intervention. At 38 weeks, Kirsty lost a severe amount of blood but was sent home from the hospital after all appeared ok. She then lost a considerable amount of blood on a second occasion, immediately went to the hospital and refused to leave until it was fully examined. In a very short space of time her situation changed dramatically. She experienced a severe placental abruption which resulted in an emergency cesarean section, an 11 hour surgery, 28 units of blood and also a hysterectomy to save her life. What Kirsty went through is extremely rare but thankfully the right person stepped in at the right time to save her life.We also chat about her recovery throughout the months and years following her daughters birth. Many changes have since been implemented in the hospital as a result of what Kirsty's story. On the website, I will detail all of the changes and how Kirsty has been so active in supporting others with similar traumatic births.
