Chopin’s Op. 70, written at various stages of his life, would not be published until several years after his death. And the years leading up to his death was a time when Chopin’s life would change—his health would deteriorate,  and Paris would experience a time of revolution and governmental reform. The story of Chopin’s decline and death, and the story of the 1848 revolution, are intertwined. And the story of Chopin’s Op. 70, only published after his death, is the culmination of this story.
