Over the weekend, I had an interview with some old friends from “Childish Play” in Durban after they had had a virtual performance in London on IG. It was a late night thing, so we only got to log on our Zoom accounts around 11pm or so. It was absolutely cool to see them again since we met back in 2017 when my colleague and friend, Cue Ngema and I hosted a protest arts event at Alliance Francaise de Durban called “Salute African Goddess”. 

 

Childish Play is a hip hop band, made up of 4 members Trevor, Koby, Jaydee and Yamez, and they have been doing really well in the industry, coming up at their own pace. With one of their tracks being found on Slikour On Life and previously having topped the charts of the KFC Sound Bite, they’ve definitely been getting some attention from many celebrities in the industry. People like DJ Cndo and Speedsta have definitely shown their love for the band and the guys share those details in the interview. You will also get to hear some stories of how these guys stuck together through it all and how family has played a big role in strengthening them and keeping them grounded.
