Sometimes doing what's necessary isn't what we always want to do, but we have to do it in order to get us where we want to be. Taking care of the necessity first then the passion will help you appreciate the passion more once you're in it. Necessity isn't forever, but the more you avoid facing the reality of it, the longer it will take you to reach what you're passionate about.
