Reiner recalls his childhood where we discover his desire to become Marleyean. He is despised as the weakest  warrior recruit by Galliard and openly rejected by his father. He learns during the mission to invade paradise he was never meant to wield the Armored Titan and declares himself the de facto leader when Marcel is eaten. Reiner pulls back from a suicide attempt placing hope in the new warrior recruits. Finally, a familiar looking wounded solider has a heart-to-heart with Falco.
