Bela Bartok is a composer who had a special relationship with research and academia. He would spend much of his life transcribing and notating traditional folk songs all across Hungary, utilizing these songs within his original compositions. And at the beginnings of the 20th century, he would join the faculty of the Liszt Academy, a position he would hold for a number of years. It was also during this time that Bartok wrote his Seven Sketches, Op. 9b, a piece that helps showcase his relationship to the Liszt Academy.
