Ep70 - Leo Santa Cruz vs. Abner Mares post-fight
Leo Santa Cruz vs. Abner Mares post-fight – Leo Santa Cruz dispatched of Abner Mares by way of ultra-competive, high octane, majority decision victory. Mares shot out of a canon in hopes of overwhelmeing the taller, rangier Santa Cruz, but the task proved too much for the former three-division champ. Santa Cruz proved most of his critics wrong by showing his ability to rise to the occasion against a top level fighter. What's next for both fighters is yet to be seen, but a rematch makes perfect sense. It was a successful evening of fights for the fledgling Premier Boxing Champions brand filled with exciting action inside the ring.
SHANE MOSLEY vs. RICARDO MAYORGA 2 – Shane Mosley vs. Ricardo Mayorga 2 was a bizarre promotion indeed. But, the fight itself proved to be pretty entertaining considering the shape that Mayorga was in. The show wasn't without it's own antics as Ricardo Mayorga displayed some bravado by dropping his hands to his side, sticking out his chin and daring "Sugar" Shane to hit him with his best shot. It was a silly attempt to play to the crowd of 3,500 fans at the historic Forum in Inglewood, California, but an entertaining one anyways. Mosley finally ended the evening by knocking out Ricardo Mayorga by way of 6th round body shot.
OLEKSANDR USYK vs. JOHNNY MULLER – Top prospect Oleksandr Usyk returned to action in front of a packed house in Kiev, Ukraine. The cruiserweight wunderkind put on a show for his countryman and won by way of 3rd round stoppage against South African, Johnny Muller. It was a stylistic performance by the slick boxer that ended in a display of pure ferocity and power. The future is bright for the former Olympic gold medalist as he improves to a flawless record of 8-0, with 8 KO's.
