In this weeks episode I share my chat with Anita who is both a birth & postpartum doula. I love hearing the perspective of someone who works in the world of maternity care. She chats me through early pregnancy, preparation for birth and how she felt in anticipation of giving birth considering she supported women for years prior to her own pregnancy.Anita was respected and supported during labour and birth with the midwives reading her birth preferences thoroughly ensuring she got the birth she wanted. Although her labour was long and intense she birth her little boy unmedicated which was her wish. She also speaks of her breastfeeding experience and how initially she wanted to feed him for 12 months but she is now breastfeeding a toddler. If you are expecting your little one I would definitely take a few notes, birth preferences are invaluable.
