In today’s episode, I have a conversation with Jon Klassen. Jon is an illustrator originally from Canada who now lives in LA. If you have kids, I bet that you already own at least one of the amazing books he’s worked on...
His first solo picture book I want my hat back was published in 2011 and he’s then gone on to write and illustrate many more (my favourite being This is not my hat, about a fish who steals a hat from a much bigger fish...).
We talk about Jon’s creative process when it comes to writing and creating illustrations, how he loves to get inspiration from films and the way he feels about drawing in public.
We also chat about his work on the new kids series Shape Island (which you can watch on Apple Tv) and his upcoming book The Skull - which I can’t wait to read!
It was amazing getting to know Jon, trying to soak up all the widsom and feeling very inspired to start writing more too! Enjoy!
