Terry Flanagan dispatched of Diego Magdaleno, defending his WBO lightweight crown, and silencing critics who felt he won his title by default. After a slow start in the opening round, Flanagan overwhelmed the outmatched and seemingly nervous Magdaleno quickly in the second, swarming the American contender to close the fight out in devastating fashion.American upstart and Boxcino champ, John Thompson came out of the gates swiftly with a solid jab-first approach against the rugged Liam Smith. The young Smith didn't do much of anything in the first five rounds of the fight falling way behind early. But, a few hard shots in the sixth round softened up the legs of Thompson and Smith capitalized in the seventh round. Liam Smith knocked the wobbly Thompson flat on his face, raising the WBO junior-middleweight strap, and becoming the first of his brothers to become a world champion.Jorge Linares made short work versus Ivan Cano in front of a packed house in Caracas, Venezuela.
