In 1969, at a time when the world thought the USA and USSR might destroy the world with nuclear weapons, the world watched in wonder and excitement as the Apollo 11 astronauts planted a flag on the moon. -This is for Democracy. This is for America- the flag-symbol of freedom and democracy-seemed to say, barely moving in the vacuum of space.--In Acts 18-24-20-1, the symbols of human liberation from sin and wrath waved powerfully in the spiritual vacuum of Ephesus. --That's actually not entirely correct- Ephesus wasn't a vacuum. It was another kingdom-a demonic kingdom.--Demons possessed men, and the demonic spirits possessed the entire city in the worship of the -great goddess Artemis.- They even had a -sacred stone that fell from the sky- -19-35- they believed was a gift from the goddess. --Into this demonic kingdom marched the Kingdom of Christ. And how did it overcome the city- This Kingdom of Christ, through the hands of Apollos the preacher, Paul the Apostle, and regular church members took three faithful actions that ensured Christ would conquer the city. --These three actions did more than plant a little piece of cloth on a distant moon-these actions achieved victory in the heart of a significant powerful and prideful city. --Wouldn't you like to win- I would. These actions are still our weapons. These actions are still the Spirit's means of overcoming the world.
