Designated Drinker Show

Epi 212a :: Reconstruction :: ICON Series w/ John T Chapman & McArthur Myers

Listen Later

Talking history while sipping our Truffled Dirty Martini.

The era of Reconstruction offered great promise and could have radically changed the history of this country. However, it quickly became clear that emancipation in the United States did not mean equality for Black people. In the third episode of our ICON Series, guest host John Taylor Chapman welcomes McArthur Myers, historian and Alexandria Living Legend. John and McArthur discuss this significant chapter in the history of civil rights in our country as it struggled to address questions of freedom, justice, equality, and citizenship. There’s so much to cover, we needed two parts for this episode. So grab your glass, sit back, and hear the story of ordinary people facing very difficult odds in trying to create a better society for all.
