INXS: Access All Areas

Epi 31: The Max Q, review

Listen Later

In the afterglow (get it) of 1988’s Kick album juggernaut, the band took their first genuine break since commencing in 1977.

With all members having a year off in 1989, Michael seized the opportunity to explore the burgeoning dance scene and sonic experimentations that became MAXQ. An album that merged the mainstream with the underground via the cutting edge production talents of Ollie Olsen and Michael Hutchence.

With soundscapes and sonics ahead of its time, MAXQ would represent an artistic and career watershed moment for Michael.
So take the plunge, join us as we do the deepest of album review dives as we play “in full” each track and celebrate one of the world's best musical u-turns by a major label artist!
