Bio:

Renato Lage was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He started playing the saxophone at 11 y.o. and has been involved with music and dance throughout his entire life. He plays cavaquinho, pandeiro and saxophone in Samba and Bossa Nova bands, but it was in a soul band that he achieved the greatest moment in his career, when he had the honor to perform with B.B.King during his World Tour. He was also responsible for bringing the “Samba de Gafieira” and the first “Roda de Samba” to Houston back in 2010, when he was an MBA student at University of Houston Victoria. Building a Samba School “Bateria” has been in his plans since then, but only in 2020 when he returned to the U.S., he was able to put all parts together and launch the Samba Houston project. Besides music, Renato works in the electronic payments industry and has experience in global companies, like PayPal and VeriFone.
