Pjila’si Nijin-chewamu’gk Lnu Podcast. Welcome to the Pink Lnu Podcast - An Indigenous platform for intersectional stories. Teluisi Amy (my name is Amy), and I'm the host and creator of this show.
CW/TW: This episode contains content that some listeners might find emotional, triggering and/or traumatizing. This includes Residential Schools, physical/sexual abuse, death, war, genocide, and other forms of violence. Please listen at your discretion.
"It's Not Justice, But It's Legal" is the second half of a two-part interview featuring guest Gerald Gabriel. Here, Gerald and I re-cap our main talking points from the previous episode and have an in-depth discussion about how colonization has affected the lives of Indigenous peoples. We also talk about his time in the Canadian Armed Forces and explore his creative side as a singer-songwriter & poet.
If you missed the first half of the two-part interview, "Where Was Your Fighting Spirit?" be sure to check it out. In that episode, we went over the history of Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland), including the Qalipu First Nation Band and the Federation of Newfoundland Indians (FNI). He told his story of growing up as an Lnu on the island, including intergenerational trauma, lateral violence, and the denial of his identity. ⠀
