The letters of John focus on that statement in 1 John 5:21. He warns all believer to keep away from anything that might replace God in their lives. Anything that replaces God in our lives is idolatry, pure and simple, and it is still the greatest threat to all of us who call ourselves believers.
The second letter of John is the only letter in the New Testament addressed to a woman. It is addressed to “the chosen lady and her children.”
Even though Second John is one of the shortest letters in the New Testament and can be read in a few minutes, if you pause to consider the content, you will hopefully see how it also answers many of the questions we have today – especially how to treat people who teach wrong things.
