What is the difference between worry and anxiety? What are the effects of each? Learn about “awfulizing” and practices that change your thinking to allow you to experience peace with hosts Maribeth and Ginger.
Practices to overcome worry and anxiety:
Barn door imagery – when you are stuck replaying the past or worrying about the future can cause your mind to race or negatively ruminate. Placing your hands in front of you and moving them as if opening a barn door (or use a swimming motion) you are pushing away both the past and the future to open up the “now.”
In this moment, I am fine – say this over and over to yourself to quiet your racing mind.
Name your worry – name it, observe it, ask “is it true?”
Self-compassion – other people feel this way, too. I am not alone.
COC – CURIOUS about how you are feeling, OTHERS feel it too, COMFORT yourself with statements like, “This will get better.”
