Here are 5 things you should know about the widows in your church:

  1. The average age of a widow is only 56 years old. 
  2. Becoming a widow means nothing is the same (financially, socially, etc.)
  3. Widows lose 75% of their friendship network after losing a spouse. 
  4. Half will not be attending the church they attended with their husband after one year of becoming a widow. 
  5. One-third of widows meet the criteria for clinical depression in the first month after their husband's death.
