Little Lantern Stories

Episode 03: The Lantern Maker’s Secret🏮

Listen Later

This week, we travelled back about 2,000 years.

Before street lights. Before light switches. Before glowing cities at night.

In the Han Dynasty, about 2,000 years ago, when the sun went down the world grew dark and quiet. On the night of the first full moon, families stepped outside together.Lanterns filled the streets.Light carried wishes, and hope was shared.

In this episode, we take children to discover the meaning of lanterns and the quiet craft of the lantern maker. We explore new words and discover how language carries culture forward.

This year, the Lantern Festival falls on Tuesday, March 3rd. As we launch this episode at this special time, the Little Lantern Stories team wishes you and your family a night filled with warmth, glowing light, and togetherness.

Join Briony and Lele as they travel into Ancient China, and complete the Little Lantern Mission Map (attached) and continue the journey at home. Your listening, sharing, and feedback help us make Little Lantern Stories better and better. Thank you, and happy Lantern Festival from the ThinkChinese team. 🌟
